Quick REMAP — Level 2 Workshop
Quick REMAP — Level 2:
Mind-Body Emotional Regulation
for
Anxiety, Anger, Sadness & Shame
___________________________________
This workshop integrates elements of exposure therapy, mindfulness, systematic
desensitization and psycho-physiological interventions such as evidence-based breath regulation and evidence-based acupressure to soothe the sympathetic nervous system and to down-regulate the amygdala. The combined effect of these interventions is used to target subcortical conditioned responses for desensitization and counter-conditioning. This approach is primarily behavioral in nature but this seminar also builds on the cognitive components from Level 1 and offers additional cognitive interventions. It offers specific resources in the treatment of anxiety, anger, sadness, and shame. It also provides training in two inventories for measuring emotional regulation outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the components of the amygdala pathway
- Review 6 possible steps in mind-body, behavioral/cognitive treatment
- Observe a demonstration of mind-body behavioral/cognitive techniques to regulate anxiety, anger, sadness, and/or embarrassment
- Practice mind-body, behavioral interventions to regulate anxiety and/or anger
- Practice mind-body, behavioral interventions to regulate sadness and/or shame
- Practice variations on the three-part cognitive intervention to regulate emotional distress fueled by the thinking brain
- Review therapeutic questions/statements that keep the process mind-body focused
- Identify two inventories for measuring emotional regulation outcomes
